Research Argument Paper -- 2

My topic for my research argument paper will be "Entry-level Position Requirements". I chose this topic because as a brother of Delta Sigma Pi, I see a lot of my older brothers that have graduated struggle landing jobs. I have a brother who recently graduated and over the course of four months, he applied to 223 jobs. He only got interviews for 15 of those 223 applications, got to the final round for three and only received one offer. When I asked him why this was the case, he said that all those jobs required at least five to ten years’ experience in that position that he didn't have. Mind you, these were all entry- level Marketing positions. He just graduated in Spring 2020 with a Marketing Degree, worked two to three jobs all through college to fund his education, and was a member of Delta Sigma Pi. I did my own research because I too am a marketing major and I want to know what I need to do in the next two years and prepare myself. This is not just one person experiencing this, it is so many students coming out of college. Approximately 53% of students that graduate college are unemployed or working in a position that does not require a bachelor’s degree. This is most likely because they either are struggling paying for college so they have to work or their focus is solely on school so that they can graduate and go right into the work field, which is not the case. My position on this is to argue that employers need to decrease the requirements for entry-level positions. There is no physical way to gain five years of marketing experience when you graduate college in four years. Even then, most of the time you need experience to get experience.
