Design Project Report

Design Project Project Brief: Design an app or website that involves human interaction with an Artificial Intelligence. An interaction with an AI means that the user has the ability to provide input to the system and the system responds in the way the user can perceive. There is back and forth between the user and the AI / interface. You might consider tasks that are relevant to improving health, providing support for learning a new language or skill, providing entertainment, or improving the trustworthiness of the Internet. The AI must be roughly technically feasible (i.e. no time travel, no teleportation, no finger print readers that guess what you had for breakfast), but you will not be implementing it or discussing its implementation in detail. Your design project starts with need finding, articulates the design goals, design concept, the design prototype, and the evaluation of the design. There will be weekly submissions for each of the methods you will be learning for this project. The final design reports includes the outcomes of each stage of the process. Rather than just include the required content in the report, make considered decisions about typography, leading, white space, grids, and layout. You are more likely to be competitive professionally and get higher grades in your courses if the visual design of your documents is very high quality – make it easy for the person reading the report to find the most important information, and to be able to scan the document quickly before reading the details. Below is a checklist with our expectations when grading the quality of the report. 1. The title page should contain project title, team name (if the project is team-based), project member names, course name, date, and an image that is representative of the report contents. 2. The report should be well organized according to the list of topics required. 3. The report should be written clearly with simple sentences and coherent paragraphs. 4. Make sure you do a spelling and grammar check before submitting. 5. Whitespaces should be used to set out information and make the report easier to read and understand. For example, use more space between paragraphs than between lines in a paragraph (leading). 6. Each Figure/Table should have a Figure/Table number and a caption. Refer to the Figure or Table number in the paragraph above or below when you want to reference something in the Figure or Table. 7. A table of contents is mandatory and can be automatically generated in word. 8. A table of figures/tables must be included. 9. Include a header with information about the report; it should at least contain the Team name or author name. 10. The footer should include information as well, at least the page number. 11. Each section should have an overview paragraph and a summary paragraph. 12. All headings should be of the same font size. 13. The text alignment should be justified. 14. The font for paragraphs should be a standard serif font. 15. A uniform size of text content should be maintained throughout the document, possibly making the section headings a larger font. 16. A one-inch margin is appropriate. 17. Details of data collected belong in an appendix, but a summary, analysis and results of data belong in the body of the report. 18.
