Fill shapes in Photoshop and import into Illustrator

I have a set of 20 black and white line graphics (PNGs) that need to be colored using a palette, and added to separate artboards in a single Illustrator document. - [photoshop] Make line images solid black and white. - [photoshop or illustrator] Fill in areas with solid colors (sometimes gaps in lines must be filled in to enable paint bucket to work). - Import into Illustrator (using Live Trace) onto blank artboards with a solid background color. We will use Dropbox to share the files and check the first one to make sure the file is correct. (This project is private, so you can't use it on a portfolio or anywhere on the web.)
