Room designer

Project overview: This is a mobile app Home Design project. The first version will run on Android devices of all resolutions (smartphones and tablets). A user can load a 3d scene into the app from a local storage location on the mobile device. This scene is then processed on the edges to make it aesthetically more pleasing to view. Major holes in the scene should be filled if necessary. The user can then choose an area in the scene to draw a 3d transparent box, with red edges that "shimmer" to distinguish them from the rest of the scene. When the box is created, a button appears over it with the word “Style”. A design decision can be taken to make this an icon instead of text. A suitable icon for “Style” can be used. When clicking on this button or icon, a search is then performed on the server for all items that fit in that box. The search results are returned from our server in the form of a list of 2d product images, which appear in a gallery. Each image shows a 2d snapshot of a corresponding 3d model, which will be less than or slightly bigger than the created 3d box. The user can scroll through this gallery (left to right) and click on a 2d image. At this point the 3d object will be downloaded and placed in the box for viewing. At any time, the viewer can hide the controls on the screen, and controls for movement will allow the viewer to enter the scene and move around, and move the camera around. The controls are styling can be returned to the window at any time, at which point controls for movement of the viewer and camera will be hidden. It will be possible to add any 3d model to a wishlist, and a shopping basket icon will exist also (without functionality). Items on the wishlist can be reloaded into the 3d box. Clicking and holding down an object in the desired wishlist will briefly show amessage that displays “Added to cart”. In future enhancements, it is then added to a cart list. Therefore we will also have a list of items in a shopping cart on the screen. The design of this is to be discussed. A new 3d box can be drawn at any time, for a new search of small objects. The 3d scene can be replaced at any time by the user. It should be possible to show/hide the wireframe box by clicking on a button to show/hide it. We do this to allow the other objects to be seen easily. A design decision will be taken to determine if the show/hide is best done by clicking on the box itself to hide, and clicking elsewhere to show it. The final deliverable is a .apk file with brief documentation (2-3 pages to text, graphics extra) showing how the app was built.
