Wine Maillist database

The scope of the project is to update a database application that provides contacts and invoicing for a wine merchant. The original application was created in Paradox for Dos 4.0 and has been in continuous use since 1988. The user is happy with the majority of the application functionality, but is now seeking the following enhancements: - Support of the Windows XP OS environment. - Enhancement to make use of the GUI capabilities - Ability to create emails or letters from selected customers. - Database stability and integrity. - Multi-user ability on a Windows XP peer-to-peer network. As the original consultant/developer I will be working with the user to develop a function requirements specification. I am looking for someone to write the code. *** 4/04/04 Addition *** A detailed functional specification has been provided as a zip attachment. Please prepare/adjust your bids accordingly. The bidding deadline has been extended to 4/9/04. *** 3/26/04 Addition *** A detailed functional specification is currently under review by the user. This review has taken longer than I had hoped. The bidding for this project has been extended 2 weeks (4/7/04). To those bidders that I have contacted and expressed an interest in communicating with further, please be patient! I know you want the most accurate set of requirements on which to bid your services. I have found that taking the time to verify the requirements at this stage, saves a lot of grief later in the project. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform MS Access Suggestion for more appropriate platform will be considered. **3/14/04 Addition** If another platform is recommended, please describe the following: - Advantages / Disadvantages of the alternate solution. -Types of hardware (servers), software, internet enhancements that will be required to support the alternate solution. - Approximate cost to implement the alternate solution - Your ability to implement the alternate solution - Cost and effort associated with maintaining the alternate solution.
