PHP Art Filter Page

I have a Joomla site which is an art gallery that displays images of art where users can search and purchase pieces of art. I need a php script using the Model View Controller to filter through art by (artist, year, type) and do a keyword search. In addition they would have the option to click a button to buy an art item (would be great if it could have a cart feature). The MySQL database is already created with sample data to work with.
