My project is focused on the transformation of my kitchen's current (flat) ceiling, to be removed and replaced with a pitched ceiling to match the pitched roof. I require a residential structural engineer who can assess the existing wall and roof framing accordingly and confirm it is suitable to put in a pitched ceiling. The role consists of: - Understanding the existing structure and materials - confirm it can be converted to a pitched style internally, noting there is an adjoining wall with the adjoining property. It is a terrace house. - Confirm the builder's plans are appropriate. The ideal freelancer for this job would have significant experience working with wall and roof framing, specifically in residential structures. Knowledge of brick and timber as construction materials are required. Need advice on whether the builder's recommendation of bracing the top beam and putting knobs on the rafters to tie down the wall will suffice.
