The application would run as an application that runs in the background all the time (it can be setup to automatically add itself to the startup menu, so if you reboot it will start up by itself). A small icon would sit in the system tray near the clock, showing that the program is running, and allowing access to the options screen, and to turn it off. It would sit there constantly monitoring the joystick input. If it senses the joystick being triggered, it will go into action.
The action it will take can be configured by the user. The user can add many .wav files to a list of .wavs that it will play when triggered (only one of the files is played when it is triggered). The user can choose to have it cycle through the .wav in order, or randomly. They can also choose to have it take no action, and only play the .wav every "n" times the trigger occurs. If the user chooses to turn it off completely, they can simply close the application down.
This application is intended for use with a touchscreen kiosk. There would be a sensor that detects when someone walks past it, and when they do, it will effectively click the joystick button to trigger a sound being played (to attract people to walk up to the kiosk).
Must be written in VB 6 or VB.NET.
