Very small Intel XDK project (ref. uploaded Jasontest xdk project) is a single function that issues an AJAX call and reads JSON data. This function works perfectly when using XDK's Emulator mode. The function does not work using XDK's Debug and Testing modes. The console stops with the AJAX call. I believe this may have to do with the Intel XDK Build settings that are used to create Cordova's access and scripting permissions. I have an Onda v919 Air CH tablet. It runs on the x86_64 Intel Atom processor (Cherry Trail). I need this to operate with Linux - some flavor of Debian. I can get Ubuntu 16.04 (upgraded Kernel to 4.5) installed and running fine except it has trouble recognizing some of the hardware. Specifically: No battery, No sound, No wifi. I can live with no sound. I can get wifi with external usb dongle but I must have the battery! There is an Android rom for this and supported by the manufacturer. So, in theory the drivers exist for Linux and should be available to compile and make work on Debian/Ubuntu. I have done all that I can and have reached the end of my experience. ... How I know that this can be done: When I bought desktop PC on first turn on I had to enter Windows Serial Number, following user name and password (personalization). I typed password fast so I made a mistake. Then I needed somehow to recover password/account. So on the other laptop with Vista (MSI, Intel Centrino processor) on it I downloaded some Windows Password Recovery. I made bootable USB using this program. Then I booted from USB on PC and made new account. This passed some malicious bootkit/malware that had subverted/changed kernel for real time.
